The Kenosha Literacy Council’s need for volunteer tutors is growing everyday. 7% of adults in Kenosha County lack the basic literacy skills needed to function in everyday life. 13% of Wisconsin adults 18-24 and 10% of adults 25 do not have a high school diploma or the equivalent. 46% of Wisconsin’s foreign-born population over five years old do not speak English well.
Become a Literacy Volunteer and Change Lives! Enthusiastic individuals are needed to tutor immigrants, refugees and life-long Americans in reading, writing and English. Help students achieve life’s necessities like completing job applications, helping their children with homework or understanding medicine labels. With many different tutoring options available you're sure to find one that fits your schedule! No experience is necessary--you do not need to be a teacher or speak another language. Being a tutor doesn’t take much time, is easy to learn how to do and is fun!
