Serving your community as a hospice volunteer is an intensely rewarding and fulfilling experience.
At Interim HealthCare Hospice, our goal is to provide excellent end-of-life support to each patient and family and our volunteers truly are the heart of our program. Hospice volunteers provide companionship to those in the final weeks or months of their lives and offer invaluable support to the families.
Interim HealthCare Hospice is seeking individuals with at least two hours a week available to provide one of the following volunteer services:
Support for patients. This can include visiting, reading, taking walks, and bringing in music.
Respite and support for family members. Volunteers can assist with shopping or light household maintenance, or allow family caregivers the opportunity to take care of necessary errands, exercise, or simply have some time alone.
Administrative work. A volunteer with clerical skills can help in the office with administrative duties.
Volunteers must be able to pass a criminal background check and be at least 18 years of age. Volunteers are required to interview in person and complete our very flexible online training classes.
Hospice volunteering is not recommended for persons who have lost a loved one within the past 12 months.
