Help co-host a scavenger hunt style exploration of the Smithsonian's National Museum American History museum for a big crowd of 8 - 14 year old boys and girls (and their chaperones). Volunteers will encourage and inspire these kids by leading creative learning activities at various stations in the museum.
We need volunteers from 6 pm to 11:00 pm
Dates:
Saturday, June 6
Friday, June 26
Friday, July 24
Friday, August 28
There are also 6 dates for Natural History Museum Sleepovers, see separate listing about those.
Volunteer Tasks include: Arrive at 6 pm for orientation, then go set up activity tables, chairs, and supplies around the various halls in the museum. Some lifting will be required (up to 15 lbs). The big "event" at the sleepover is an scavenger hunt style exploration of the museum throughout its 2 floors, with arts and crafts, demonstrations, and games. You will be assigned to one of these activities (given a script and detailed instructions at the Orientation) to lead throughout the night. Around 10:45 pm we clean-up/load-out all the activities, check in with staff, and then you can go home! Some flexibility in assignments should be expected, as last-minute changes do happen.
You will get to go home and sleep in your own beds, and enjoy the satisfaction of knowing you helped all these children to enjoy a once-in-a-lifetime experience they will never forget!
