Description: The Alzheimer’s Association, National Capital Area Chapter is looking for volunteers to serve as Helpline Specialists. Qualified volunteers will be thoroughly trained to follow up with constituents that call our 24/7 Helpline. Follow up will include phone calls, emails and postal mailing.


  • Thorough knowledge of dementia, a passion to help people, excellent people skills, basic computer skills and a willingness to learn
  • Social Work, psychology, or gerontology education
  • Time Required:
  • Training period a series of one-one sessions with our Helpline Manager
  • After training, volunteers will be asked to come into the office once a week for 2-3 hours to handle Helpline follow up: mail info packets, return a phone call, general admin.
