ARE YOU A NATURAL ORGANIZER?

First Mates serve as the liaison / lifeline between the House Captain (Supervisor), homeowner, volunteers, and the RTEBN office. They act as a volunteer coordinator for the site, with duties such as:
-- Checking volunteers in on the workday, and providing the T-shirts and PPE, such as masks and gloves
-- Coordinate with the Volunteer Coordinator for food and refreshments for the job site,
-- Keeping the morale up for all volunteers
-- Keeping people, tools and supplies organized.

This position requires about 1-3 hours of volunteer time for planning and coordinating, in addition to the actual workday.

We work together with neighbors and community members to provide free critical safety modifications and repairs to homes of low-income seniors and homeowners with disabilities.

Description

Volunteers from the community come together to build wheelchair ramps, fix front steps, install emergency grab bars, paint, and complete smaller and larger renovation projects for seniors and people with disabilities, as well as local nonprofit organizations in need of assistance.
