Rancho Sol y Mar is currently accepting participants for its Experiential Education Program. Participants receive accommodations, 3 vegetarian/flexitarian meals a day, transportation from the bus stop in Mayto to the ranch*, and daily workshops. Workshops may include natural homeopathic remedies, building with natural, local materials, cheese making and dairy production, solar energy systems, aquaponics, Mexican customs and spiritual traditions, homesteading practices, and permaculture. Participants share in daily ranch activities that include chicken feeding and egg collection, goat care, gardening, compost upkeep, and harvesting. One day a week is committed to community outreach in our small, beach town. Afternoons are free for swimming in the ocean, hiking, reading, or relaxing. Saturday nights are typically dedicated to a pizza party using our wood fired Cob oven, campfires or movie screenings. Sundays are open for solo time, or to join in organized outings. 1 week minimum is requested.Please see our website for fees or inquire by email.

Description
Rancho Sol y Mar is a working, off-grid ranch, sustainability education center, guest house and campground located two hours south of Puerto Vallarta on the Pacific Coast of Mexico. At Rancho Sol y Mar, we use the power of the sun to create electricity, heat, pump and recycle water, run electric fencing, as well as cooking and dehydrating the organic foods we grow! We have chickens, horses, a mischievous burro, an equally mischievous dog, and a rollicking herd of happy goats from which we produce artisanal cheeses. We build with adobe, compressed earthblock, cob, stone, and other natural, locally sourced building materials.
We have two opportunities available:
Assist with the cleaning and care of guest house and community building, interacting with guests. This positions includes use of a pop up camper and bulk food supplies.
The second position involves natural building, gardening and basic permaculture. Camping in tents and $7 per day donation to community food and meals.
