Vet-to-Vet Volunteer Program
Heartland Hospice of Stevens Point
Our Vet-to-Vet volunteer program is dedicated to providing quality care to our patients and families that are living in this community. Volunteers help improve the quality of our patients lives through social interaction and companionship.Heartland Hospice is in need of volunteers with military background to join our team of caring professionals! Volunteers are matched up with a veteran that is currently receiving hospice services in Marathon County that would like friendly visits and additional companionship from another veteran. Fellow veterans may be able to relate to the life experiences of the hospice patient and share stories to help enrich the patient’s life during those final months. In addition to social visits, veteran volunteers can assist with pinning ceremonies and Veteran’s Day events. Please contact our Volunteer Coordinator's Amanda or McKenzie at 715-344-4541 to learn how to become a veteran volunteer! You can also email at Amanda.Cottrell@hcr-manorcare.com or McKenzie. About Heartland Hospice of Stevens Point
3233 Business Park Dr., Stevens Point, WI 54482, US
We believe that our mission is to enrich lives. That begins with every life we encounter: our employees, our patients and those who love and care for them, the communities in which we operate, our stakeholders and those who are yet to become our customers.
Hospice is a special kind of care designed to provide comfort care as well as spiritual and emotional support for terminally ill patients and their families. Hospice focuses on enhancing the quality of life, rather than the length of life. It neither hastens nor postpones death; rather it affirms life and acknowledges dying as a normal process. Hospice care stresses human values that go beyond the physical needs of the patient. It ensures that patients spend the end of their life in dignity and comfort.
At Heartland, we consider our involvement with each patient a sacred opportunity and a privilege to be in their lives. We depend on our hospice volunteers to help us provide the love, respect and care our patients and their families need.
Volunteers offer support, companionship and practical, compassionate help. Some volunteers interact directly with patients and families, while others prefer to work behind the scenes in the office setting. As a volunteer, you would help us decide which tasks your are comfortable performing.
