Description
TUTORING
OFC lessons are specifically designed for youth to learn from each other, with activities that are engaging, such as role playing, brainstorming, and group discussion. Because the emphasis is on group participation and not on individual performance or good grades, the fear of embarrassment is replaced by new self-confidence that their opinions matter and that they can rise above their own expectations. We offer an abundance of topics and lesson plans for youth ages Kinder through high school. The children are separated into age groups of ages 5-9,10-14, and ages 15 thru 18.
ANGER MANAGEMENT CLASS
Here are just a few examples of the topic we cover:Anger management, Substance abuse, Guns, The environment, Domestic abuse, Household dangers,Teen pregnancy, Self-esteem.
SELF-ESTEEM BUILDING
Because OFC topics are "cool", enjoyable, easy to relate to, and deal with everyday life, OFC life skills lessons sneak in under the radar and are observed by participants in brainstorming activities and dynamic group sessions. Youth never confuse them with their negative classroom experiences.
HEALTH AND HYGIENE INSTRUCTION
All of our program staff are trained and background checked through the state of Texas.OFC staff consists of teachers, youth probation officers, police ollicers, and church volunteers. Our staff members are trained in die area of food handling, health and safety standards. The relationship between the youth and staff improves and most importantly, the youth learn life-skill lessons from an adult they grow to trust and respect.
SUMMER FOOD PROGRAM
Dinner is served Monday-Friday. School Age Children Only. Each child will be given a nutritious meal and it is their option on whether to participate in the activities. During the summer months June-August we provide breakfast and luch throught the DFW metroplex.
