As a volunteer, you will join select company - friends and neighbors who give of themselves to make a real difference for our patients, visitors and staff. The gift of time is one that many of our volunteers tell us gives them so much more in return: the feeling that comes with knowing you've helped care for others in your own special way. We welcome adults and college students ages 18 and above. A sample of volunteer opportunities include: Gift Shop, Shuttle Cart Drivers, Guest Ambassadors, Patient Advocates and Emergency Department and certified pet therapy volunteers. Affiliation with New Hanover Regional Medical CenterPender Memorial Hospital is affiliated with New Hanover Regional Medical Center, Southeastern North Carolina's tertiary referral center. Physicians and staff at each hospital work closely together to coordinate services for their patients and reach the highest standards of care. Many physician specialists on the New Hanover Regional Medical Center physician staff see patients in Burgaw and Rocky Point so patients don't need to travel the extra distance to Wilmington. PMH patients also benefit from the experience provided by the same groups of radiologists, pathologists and emergency physicians who care for and diagnose patients at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.
