The Excelsior-Lake Minnetonka Historical Society needs volunteers to host at our museum in Excelsior. Duties include opening and/or closing the museum, greeting the public, selling books and answering simple questions. No experience is necessary and simple training is provided. Daytime shifts are available on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Sign up for one shift or multiple shifts throughout the summer.

Mission Statement
To preserve, document and classify the physical history of the Lake Minnetonka area. To provide a means by which everyone can share in the history of the lake area. To stimulate interest in the cultural heritage of the area.
Description
Founded in 1972, the Excelsior-Lake Minnetonka Historical Society is an all-volunteer nonprofit organization that collects, preserves and shares the history of the south Lake Minnetonka area including Big Island, parts of Deephaven, Excelsior, Greenwood, Shorewood, and Tonka Bay, Minnesota.
The Society’s Archives and Museum are free and open to the public and hold a large collection of Lake Minnetonka artifacts, photographs and documents.
A number of books about Lake Minnetonka history have been published by the Society and are available for purchase from the Society online and in local bookstores.
The Society also presents lectures and programs on topics of local historical interest throughout the year.
