Medicare/Medicaid Volunteers provide assistance to clients over age 60 and/or disabled at various community settings in Northern Arizona. Counselors assist clients with filling out forms, make appropriate referrals and answer questions dealing with Medicare Issues, Social Security, Medicare Supplemental Insurance, Health Maintenance Organizations (HMO's), Arizona Long Term Care System (ALTCS) and Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS).

Mission Statement
The Mission of Northern Arizona Council of Governments (NACOG) Area Agency on Aging Region III is to provide the tools necessary to maximize independence and dignity and to implement a comprehensive coordinated system of services and resources. NACOG Area Agency on Aging will holistically support adults, families, and caregivers through assessment, planning, advocacy, information, referral, counseling and community networking.
Description
Services are funded by the Older Americans Act, SSBG funds and the State of Arizona. Funding is allocated on a regional basis from the Arizona Department of Economic Security, Division of Aging and Adult (DAAS) to Area Agencies on Aging.
Eligibility for programs: Seniors or adults with disabilities.
The agency serves as a public advocate for the development and enhancement of coordinated community and comprehensive based systems of service. The agency monitors evaluates, and, where appropriate, comments on all policies, programs, hearings, levies and community actions that affect older persons.
Programs available: Care Coordination, Congregate Meals, Family Caregiver Program, Home & Community Based Services, Home Delivered Meals, Health and Wellness, Information and Referral, Senior Community Service Employment Program, Medicare/Benefits Counseling Long Term Care Ombudsman Program, Transportation and volunteer opportunities.
