Be The Match Walk+Run Minneapolis

Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: NMDP

We need friendly, energetic volunteers ready to donate their time on event day to a great cause. Volunteer shifts are typically 3-4 hours in length, and you can sign up to volunteer with family or friends. Volunteers help with responsibilities like:

  • Set-up and Breakdown
  • Registration
  • Refreshments
  • Course Marshaling
  • Start/Finish Line
  • Water Stops

Each year, thousands of patients need a marrow transplant but have no donor match in their families. They depend on Be The Match to help them find an unrelated marrow donor and receive treatment. The cure for blood cancers like leukemia, lymphoma, and 70 other life-threatening diseases is in the hands of ordinary people - your hands.

Be The Match Walk+Run raises funds to help patients with uninsured treatment costs, support continued marrow transplant research to improve outcomes, and add more potential volunteer marrow donors to Be The Match Registry, giving more patients hope for a cure.

You'll receive the training you need to feel comfortable in your volunteer role, a t-shirt, and the appreciation of everyone who works to help marrow transplant patients. Please sign up to be an event day volunteer and encourage your family and friends to join you!

Sign up to be an event day volunteer by visiting www.bethematchwalkrun.org/minneapolis and scrolling down to the Volunteer button in the middle of the page. Encourage your family and friends to sign up also!

About NMDP

Location:

500 N 5th St., MINNEAPOLIS, MN 55401, US

Mission Statement

We save lives through cell therapy. At NMDP (formerly known as Be The Match), we believe each of us holds the key to curing blood cancers and disorders. As a global nonprofit leader in cell therapy, NMDP creates essential connections between researchers and supporters to inspire action and accelerate innovation to find life-saving cures. With the help of blood stem cell donors from the world’s most diverse registry and our extensive network of transplant partners, physicians and caregivers, we’re expanding access to treatment so that every patient can receive their life-saving cell therapy.

Description

For patients with blood cancers like Leukemia and Lymphoma, and other life-threatening diseases, a cure exists. We are the world's leading nonprofit organization focused on saving lives through marrow and umbilical cord blood transplantation

When you volunteer with NMDP, you are helping blood cancer and blood disease patients get their cure - a blood stem cell transplant from a matching donor. As a volunteer, you can truly impact the lives of patients and their families. Last year, volunteers gave nearly 125,000 hours of their time. This commitment is vital to the life-saving work at NMDP. By working together, we create a chain reaction of good and positivity in our communities and cultures. Every volunteer opportunity at NMDP helps make a difference.
