His Kid's Closet collects donated clothing and redistributes it to kids in need through school social workers and the WIC Clinic at the Champaign-Urbana Public Health District. We need people to help distribute our clothing at WIC. Volunteers are asked to choose an hour or two during which they can help people find the clothes they need upon their request. Volunteers will direct customers to the right sizes, count their items when they are done choosing and record the number of items taken. You can sign up for a specific time slot on our Facebook page's "Sign Up" button.
Each hour can accomodate up to 3 volunteers. This can be a one-time thing or a repeating volunteer relationship. This portion of our process is very rewarding as you are afforded the opportunity to give something directly to someone who needs it at no charge. WIC is also a kid friendly location, so bringing along children of any age is possible, which makes this a unique opportunity. Children over the age of 6 may be capable of helping bag customers items or even counting them! Our greatest need tends to be for help between the hours of 11-12 and 1-4 though anytime is still a big help. We only do this on Tuesdays, though with more volunteer support we hope to add other days.
