Purpose - To remove accumulated litter from the Parkway in what is known as the "commuter corridor" which extends from mile marker 382 to 394. On the east side the project will begin about 200 yards north of the Folk Art Center (near the intersection of highway 70 and the Parkway) at mile marker 382 and will extend south to mile marker 394, or at the intersection of highway 191 (the North Carolina Arboretum is there). Also, this will keep the animals away from the Parkway as the typical food packages will attract them to the road placing them in danger due to the traffic. You may adopt a mile or two and consider it your very own for purposes of keeping nature looking as it is supposed to look...clean and pristine.
