Mission Statement

Our mission is to help individuals by providing transitional housing solutions to address the emergent need of LGBT individuals experiencing crisis leading to homelessness. Through integrated solutions we offer educational & financial responsibility resources as well as wrap around services in substance abuse and mental health counseling and drug testing. We are dedicated to bringing opportunities to troubled individuals in Greater Newark and surrounding communities.

Description

People are identifying publicly as LGBT at younger ages than in the past. Many LGBT individuals face harassment, violence, stigma, rejection, and discrimination in their families, schools, employment, and social settings. LGBT youth face the ire and rejection of unaccepting family members and are often unable to access traditional shelter settings when they find themselves homeless through no fault of their own. Although Essex County has one of the highest rates of homelessness in New Jersey, there is a woeful lack of services for LGBT individuals in this community.

We work to offer:

  • Career Planning and Employment Preparation
  • Life Skills Training
  • Develop Comprehensive Evaluation Tool to determine outcomes and identify critical issues and gaps in services
