The definition of fostering...."encourage or promote the development of something, typically something regarded as good." Fostering dachshunds can be wonderful, trying, funny, entertaining, frustrating, educational, but always rewarding!
The "duties" of a foster parent at LPDR include housing and feeding the dog, taking the dog to the vet as needed (our organization pays the cost of any medical bills including routine care), carrying out any medical treatments that might be required, teaching the dog and helping him or her overcome any unwanted behaviors (house training, food aggression, fearfulness), socializing the dog, being available to answer any questions about the dog from potential adopters, and most importantly loving the dog as one's own and then setting him or her free when the new forever family is found.
Helping you along the will be your foster coordinator and assistant and the whole LPDR team!

Little Paws Dachshund Rescue is a non-profit animal rescue that specializes in finding permanent homes for dachshunds It is LPDR's goal to identify abandoned, mistreated, or homeless dogs and oversee their treatment and well being while working to find loving owners for those in our care. We also strive to make the lives of all dogs better through action, advocacy, awareness, and education. We are 100% non-profit, all-volunteer organization. We do not have a shelter, we are a home-based foster organization. Our overhead is extremely low because of our structure.
