The South Shore Elder Services Meals on Wheels Program is committed to providing nutritious meals to homebound elders. The program delivers over 1,200 nutritious meals to homebound elders each week (Mondays - Fridays). They have immediate volunteer opportunities in the following towns: Milton, Randolph, Quincy, Braintree and Weymouth.
Current volunteer opportunities include:
Meals on Wheels drivers- Volunteers are needed for 1 to 5 days a week, mid-mornings to deliver meals to homebound seniors. 1-2 hours a day. A valid MA driver’s license and reliable vehicle are required. Initial training is required, with additional enrichment opportunities offered. Mileage reimbursement is available.
Meals on Wheels Kitchen Assistant: Kitchen assistants are needed in Quincy (Houghs Neck) to help bag lunches and count out meals for pick up by Meals on Wheels drivers at local meal sites. Volunteers may also help serve Congregate meals. Volunteers are needed for 1-2 hours on weekday mornings from 8am - 10am.
