One on One Mentoring
- Meet with your mentee at least twice per month (about 8-12 hours per month which includes 1:1 outings, drive time to/from outings, and phone contact time) for a minimum of one year.
- Participate in pre and post match training sessions
- Get invited to various optional mentor/student enrichment events and mentor-only networking events
- NOTE: Mentees in 1:1 Mentoring reside across Metro Denver and are typically middle and high school aged.
One on One Mentoring + Community
- All of the above, plus the opportunity to build community with other mentors and students at required monthly Community Events. These events are centered on activities that engage students and mentors in social and emotional growth. Events are held monthly, on the same night of the month at a DPS school; dinner will be provided. Typically our events begin by 6pm, and mentors will need to pick up their mentee and take them to the Community Event, as well as bring them home afterwards.
- The time you spend at the required Community Event is included in your commitment to meet with your mentee twice per month (about 8-12 hours per month including outings, drive time to/from outings, and phone contact time). This means that the monthly Community Event is not an additional time requirement.
- NOTE: For Spring 2020, Mentees in 1:1 Mentoring + Community typically reside and go to school in west Denver, and will most likely be middle-school-aged.
Requirements to become a mentor (for both programs):
- Have access to a personal car and auto insurance
- Has lived in Denver Metro for a minimum of 6 months
- Able to pass criminal, sex offender and motor vehicle background checks
