Starting point for our Walking Tours!

Historic Denver, Inc. is heading into the fifth year of our Walking Tour Program and we need you! We are looking for 30 passionate volunteer docents to lead walking tours in Capitol Hill or Lower Downtown.

If you love sharing your knowledge of architecture and local history with groups, then this is the opportunity for you. Our docents lead 90 minute tours that cover about 1 mile of walking. Enjoying talking to groups of all sizes is a must!

Volunteer Docents must commit to successfully complete a training course, which will make you an expert in all things Denver! This training course will include expert speakers, fieldwork, hands-on activities and even a bit of homework! Trainings will be held on Saturdays in February and early March 2018.

The Walking Tours will be 85-90 minutes long and will take place rain or shine. The tours will be held from May through October.

Mission Statement

Historic Denver, Inc. is committed to enhancing the city’s unique identity through education, activism, and stewardship for historic places. By engaging the dynamic between past and present, we shape a stronger community for the future and inspire engaged citizens.

Description

As one of the nation’s premier historic preservation organizations, Historic Denver, Inc. protects the historic neighborhoods that make Denver unique. In the 1970s Denver's historic structures faced demolition in epic numbers. In true pioneer spirit, a group of citizens created Historic Denver, Inc. just in time to save one of our city's most celebrated historic homes - that of "unsinkable" Molly Brown. Since then Historic Denver has been the leading voice for preservation through Advocacy, Education, and Technical Assistance. Now more than four decades into our journey, it is our goal to be a city that respects its past as it plans for the future. Historic Denver, Inc. is the organization for people who love our city - and it’s our mission to provide ideas and actions for the places that make our city unique and special.
