This position begins in February, 2017 and ends in February, 2018 is 3 days/week at an emergency homeless shelter and 2 days/week at a homeless prevention program called Outreach.
The main purpose of the Shelter program is to provide case management for the shelter guests, connecting them with community resources to fill both their immediate and future needs. This position also supports the daily functions of the shelter by coordinating volunteers, serving guests, and managing general operations.
The main purpose of the Outreach program is to provide clients who are on the verge of homelessness with appropriate financial assistance towards past due rent, past due heating bills, limited prescription assistance, gas vouchers for medical appointments, ID’s, driver licenses, birth certificates, and so on.
This position is a great collaboration between emergency housing and sustaining housing. Clients often overlap, which allows the best possible case management service. If you are interested in serving in a rural area, helping the homeless, and working compassionately with the needy then this is a great fit for you.
