South Brevard Sharing Center is seeking volunteers from the community for three (3) of our departments: Client Services, Thrift Store, and Food Pantry.
Job Summaries Client Services Representative/Front Desk: Our intake specialists become information experts to help our clients. Volunteers will be taking direct information from our clients to help establish their eligibility for services, then providing them with the assistance they need, entering all information into the HMIS, or Homeless Management Information Systems. Desire to help people is a bonus for this volunteer position. Basic computer literacy is a must. All Client Services volunteers will need to attend a one day privacy training class after signing up.
Thrift Store: We need people to receive, sort, organize, and price donations, serve as cashier and even ride on the truck to pick up items. Some areas require a strong back while others such as cashier can be done while seated. Retail experience and a "people personality" is a plus.
Food Pantry: Food is received, sorted, organized and bagged to make up food supplies for eligible clients. Some days we prepare a 3 day bag for over 70 families. This job requires standing and walking for extended periods of time and the ability to lift upwards of 30 lbs.
Interested individuals will be scheduled for an interview and orientation by our Volunteer Coordinator, Linda Mattly. Our office is located at 17 E. Hibiscus Blvd. Phone: (321) 727-8581.
