Science On a Sphere® (SOS), the centerpiece of the Northrop Grumman Science Center, was developed by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). The world's first dynamic spherical projection system, SOS uses special software, satellite imagery and four projectors to render images onto the global surface that provide dramatic, full-motion views of the Earth, Sun, moons and planets in space

The Space Foundation and Space Foundation Discovery Center is seeking volunteers to serve as docents and activity support volunteers. Our volunteers support our mission in the Discovery Center by supporting our space awareness efforts with our public visitors, public group visitors as well as educational groups. Volunteer opportunities with the Space Foundation Discovery Center range from volunteering in our El Pomar Space Gallery, our interactive labs (Northrop Grumman Science on a Sphere, Mars Robotics Laboratory, & our AGI Space Missions Lab) as well as activity support, collections, and safety and security volunteer positions. A main mission our volunteers support us with is helping to spread space awareness in a fun, interactive and learning environment. We also have various office projects and other volunteer opportunities available in our Space Foundation Headquarters office. If you love space, or would like to learn more about space, we'd enjoy having you join our volunteer team to support our mission: To Advance Space-Related Endeavors to Inspire, Enable and Propel Humanity.
