About Jamaica Plain Community Centers Adult Learning Program

Location:

20 South Street, Boston, MA 02130, US

Mission Statement

The mission of the ALP is to provide an innovative, learner-centered, and participatory educational program to educationally disadvantaged and English Learner adults.

Description

The Adult Learning Program (ALP) was established in direct response to the demands for basic education, employment-related skill building, and ESOL services among local adults. Our goal is to help students attain the education, skills, and self confidence that will enable them to more fully participate in their communities and in the education of their children, and that will further enhance opportunities for employment, and personal development. In addition, we seek to provide the tools to enable historically disenfranchised individuals and communities, including refugees and immigrants, to more fully access, utilize, participate in, and impact the resources and development of their city and their communities. ALP currently offers 6 levels of English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), three levels of ABE from basic literacy through HiSET (formerly GED).
