As a volunteer in the Mediation Unit, your primary responsibility will be mediating complaints involving a variety of consumer issues. You will be assigned your own cases and work with your supervisor to analyze the information, develop mediation strategies, and communicate with businesses, consumers, and other parties in an effort to reach a resolution to those complaints.

The complaints may include issues such as landlord/tenant disputes, auto repair and sales matters, or problems involving general retail sales. Your work will be directly supervised by a mediation supervisor. You may also be trained to answer our consumer hotline.

This is an in-person volunteer opportunity. The Office of the Attorney General requires a minimum time commitment of two days per week, five hours per day, and we require at least a six-month commitment.

Our main office is located in downtown Baltimore with access to Light Rail, Metro, bus, and MARC lines. All work is done in person, and we offer free parking as well as a $20/day stipend.
