The Houston Food Bank is America’s largest food bank serving 18 southeast Texas counties. Our goal is to make food accessible to people in their greatest times of need by serving nutritious meals to 800,000 individuals a year through food pantries, soup kitchens, senior centers and other agencies.
You can support our mission of "Leading the Fight Against Hunger" at one of our two locations. At our main Houston Food Bank location, volunteers assist with:
- Sorting donations and repackaging bulk items
- Packing senior, family or disaster food boxes
- Creating BackPack Buddy bags
At our Keegan Kitchen location, volunteers work alongside our staff chef and cooks to help with:
- Inspect, sort and wash produce
- Meal prep (i.e. slicing, cutting, stirring, etc.)
- Packaging hot meals for daily distribution to Kids Cafe sites
Convenient morning, afternoon and evening shifts, Monday through Saturday. For more information, or to register for a volunteer shift, please visit our website at houstonfoodbank.org.
