Loaves & Fishes is a nonprofit food pantry providing food for people in need in the greater Charlottesville area. Volunteers are needed to help with food distribution 4 times each week:
Tuesdays and Thursdays 6:00-8:30pm
Wednesdays 1:30-4:30pm
Saturdays 9:30am-12:30pm
We also offer Food Sorting and Restocking shifts prior to our distributions, as well as additional once-per-month shifts. The Volunteer Hub (https://cvilleloavesandfishes.volunteerhub.com) will provide you with a complete list of volunteer opportunities. Please note that some jobs require staying on your feet for the duration of the shift and may require some moderate to heavy lifting. Please carefully read all job descriptions to find the best fit for you.
Groups and individuals can sign up once or schedule recurring reservations (for example, every 4th Thursday). We have hosted church, civic and corporate groups as well as middle school, scout and youth groups. Please contact our Volunteer Coordinator (volunteers@cvilleloaves.org) if you have questions about your specific situation or would like to schedule your group.
Because Loaves & Fishes is a working warehouse with heavy equipment, we cannot allow volunteers younger than 8. Children between the ages of 8 and 11 may volunteer with a parent or guardian.

Description
Loaves & Fishes Food Pantry is a nonprofit food pantry providing groceries at no cost to low-income individuals and families in Charlottesville, VA and surrounding communities. We currently provide groceries to an average of over 1300 households per month, which amounts to over 4800 individuals. Thirty-nine percent are children. Over 14% are are disabled.
