Volunteer to Visit Hospice Patients After COVID-19!

The World Needs More Positive People!
Train now to become a hospice volunteer so you can visit patients who have felt lonely since the COVID-19 pandemic began. By training to be a hospice volunteer now, you'll be ready to visit patients when our state opens back up. Hospice patients often need a friendly face to help brighten their days and you can be that friendly face they see at the end of this pandemic.

We're also looking for talented folks to share their skills! Music Therapy and Pet Therapy are important aspects of hospice volunteering. We'd love for you to strum your guitar and share your songs at a patient's bedside or with a group, or help Fido find some new friends to visit. Knitting, making crafts, or even using your handyman skills are all also appreciated. And if you enjoy celebrating birthdays and holidays, we have a place for you. Want to help but prefer to stay behind the scenes? No problem. We're also looking for help with filing, compiling mailings and other office work.

At Compassionate Care Hospice, an Amedisys company, we provide specialized care and support for our patients and their families. Volunteers play a vital role in our services. They help with visiting patients, including pet therapy visits, assisting with patient activities, or provide valuable "break time" for families and caregivers. The amount of time you volunteer is up to you. You can help out a couple hours a day or week, or several hours a month. You decide and we'll work with you to create opportunities that are flexible with your schedule.

Compassionate Care Hospice serves patients and their caregivers throughout Northeast Ohio, including Summit, Stark, Cuyahoga, Portage, Medina, Lorain, Holmes, Ashland and Wayne counties, and we're looking for volunteers in all of these areas. Our volunteer program is supervised by a dedicated Volunteer Coordinator who provides hospice orientation, training and on-going support to our volunteer team members.

We offer individualized, flexible volunteer training catered to your schedule. TB screening and criminal background checks (provided by and paid for by Compassionate Care) are also required to participate in the volunteer program.

Please call our Volunteer Coordinator, Maureen Londergan, at 330-666-5242 or send an email to maureen.londergan@amedisys.com for more information. We'd love to hear from you!

Description

Compassionate Care Hospice of Amedisys is a community based organization committed to providing the highest quality of end of life care to patients, their families and close friends.

The Compassionate Care of Amedisys team strongly embraces the philosophy that end of life care is so much more than just treating the symptoms of a disease.
