CCL (www.citizensclimatelobby.org) is an international, non-partisan organization that unites people in creating political will for a livable world. We focus on building will for policies that will put a price on carbon pollution via work with our elected officials, the media and our communities. Dr. James Hansen, climate scientist endorses our approach: "Most impressive is the work of the Citizens Climate Lobby, a relatively new, fast growing, nonpartisan, nonprofit group with chapters across the United States and Canada. If you want to join the fight to save the planet, to save creation for your grandchildren, there is no more effective step you could take than becoming an active member of this group."

Contra Costa County, CA, CCL is a local chapter of CCL. One of our goals is to grow awareness of our local work through use of social media and the web, so others can: 1) learn of our work; 2) join our work as team members, as part of our Letter Brigade, or as General Supporters and 3) become more knowledgeable about climate change and begin to take action to address it.

We are looking for one or two people to help develop and implement a media strategy, possibly using Facebook, Google, web page, Twitter, LinkedIn, or other sites for our social media presence, and then to link this effort to an e-news system like Constant Contact or Mail Chimp for ongoing push communications.

Initially, we believe we will need to define our social media objectives and target audience, then identify the best platforms and get these platforms operating. We expect the process to develop the strategy and implement it will not be elaborate, and that the strategy itself will be simple and straight-forward. We want to get this moving quickly and keep it moving as efficiently as possible.

We believe that more than one person could help us, choosing what they can and want to do. If you have all or some of these skills, want to use your skils to do something about climate change and want to work with an easy going, enjoyable team, we hope you will join us. Please contact Marti Roach, Chapter Leader, martiroach@sbcglobal.net or 925-376-3853.
