Make five (5) 45-minute visits to a Southwest High School classroom on 5 dates between 5/25-6/5 to teach a different Junior Achievement (JA) Personal Finance focused lesson during each visit. The time of the visit can be selected from the following options: 8:05-8:55am, 9-9:50am, 9:55-10:45am, 12:20-1:10pm, 2:10-3pm

The 5 JA lessons focus on money-management strategies that include earning, employment and income, budgeting, savings, credit and debt, consumer protection, smart shopping, risk management, and investing. The name of the lesson series is JA Personal Finance.

Junior Achievement (JA) volunteers teach students how they can impact the world around them as individuals, workers and consumers, and prepare students to succeed in school and beyond. JA volunteers share their personal and professional experiences while facilitating a series of lessons loaded with fun, hands-on activities. Students understand and connect what they are learning in the classroom with the real world through JA lessons.

This opportunity is at Southwest High School, 3414 W 47th St, Minneapolis, MN 55410

Volunteers are needed to make five (5) 45-minute visits on 5 dates between 5/25-6/5 to one of 5 classrooms that will get the JA Personal Finance lessons. These JA lessons can be taught by a single volunteer or a team of two people.

Volunteers can select their 5 dates from the following 8 dates: 5/25, 5/26, 5/28, 5/29, 6/1, 6/2, 6/4 & 6/5. The time of the visit can be selected from the following five options: 8:05-8:55am, 9-9:50am, 9:55-10:45am, 12:20-1:10pm, 2:10-3pm

JA is looking for volunteers to cover all 5 lessons for one of the 5 classrooms that want the JA Personal Finance program.

  • JA will provide the lesson plans, materials, training and support. An educator will stay in the classroom while the volunteer works with students. We are seeking people that want to engage these high school youth and share their personal stories.
