About Us

Do you know what harmful contaminants are in your water? How it gets there? What effect it has on your families and environment? Save the Water(tm) (STW(tm)) is the one looking for answers.

STW(tm) is a U.S.-based nonprofit organization whose mission is to conduct water research to identify and remove harmful contaminants in water; and to raise public awareness about water contamination and its health impacts. STW also offers educational programs to excite young minds about water science.

Our volunteers are diverse professionals from all over the world bringing their knowledge and experience to STW because we care deeply about our communities and water resources. We learn and collaborate in an open and empowering work environment to find long term solutions to water contamination problem. Our vision is "Contamination free, healthy water for all"

A passion for water. STW(tm) associates must have an understanding of the value and role that water plays in the quality of life of all living things on the planet.

Volunteering with STW is different from other volunteer experiences as we work in a almost 100% online environment. Save The Water is run like a business and we rely heavily on frequent email communications, meetings held via google hangouts, and collaboration on projects via google drive. Volunteers are held to high standards and deliverable due dates.

Are you passionate about writing and research? Save the Water(tm) (STW(tm)) is currently in need of talented and ambitious volunteers who will research, and produce material to update the STW(tm) website. Candidate must be able to take responsibility for producing and submitting material to update the website monthly.

As an Education Associate Writer, you will craft compelling articles, blogs and social media posts. In addition to it, you will also research articles relevant to our audience and write research-based article a month pertaining to water contamination or new water technology.


  • Doing valuable research and fact checking to help continue the expansion of existing programs and published educational information, within the STW website.

  • Contacting schools and educational facilities about the implementation of our STEM and DILOS programs.

  • Researching and keeping up to date about hot topics on the STW website.

  • Writing relevant educational articles about topics of importance in environmental issues.

Desired Skills and Knowledge

  • Experience in writing and/or editing is preferred.

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Journalism, Marketing, Media, English, or Business Administration

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills including editing

  • High attention to detail, team-oriented, resourceful, creative and enthusiastic

  • Ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment

  • Experience in social media and blogging

  • A passion for education

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience working in Elementary, Middle, or High Schools or classrooms.

  • A bachelor’s degree in a STEM related degree preferred but not required.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills including persuasive writing, public speaking and interpersonal skills.

  • Problem solving and critical thinking skills

  • Knowledge of test development and measurement research

  • Knowledge of Common Core and other state specific standards for STEM related subjects

  • Demonstrated ability to work productively autonomously with minimum to no supervision

  • Basic proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, Google Docs, and electronic conferencing tools (such as Google Hangouts).

  • Experience working effectively in a collaborative environment and the ability to collaborate with a diverse group of highly motivated and competent individuals from around the globe.

  • Ability to function effectively under the pressures of tight deadlines, multiple competing priorities, and a fast-paced work environment.

  • Demonstrated ability and experience in fundraising projects

  • Professional demeanor and careful attention to detail
