WHY?... Explore the cosmos and get to know your local prairie!

Prairie Keepers founder Heather Foote is a secondary science educator coordinating Prairie Sky Rangers Meet Ups during monthly star parties at Tandy Hills Natural Area. Volunteer with Prairie Keepers to share your love of science and the natural world. A brief training is required.

Credit: The Prairie Sky Rangers program is based on the Globe at Night Dark Sky Rangers program. Globe at Night is a public program of the National Optical Astronomy Observatory, the national center for ground-based nighttime astronomy in the United States, operated by the Association of Universities for Research in Astronomy (AURA), under cooperative agreement with the National Science Foundation.

Prairie Keepers is partnering with the Friends of Tandy Hills to raise funds for the Kids on the Prairie Program, FOTHNA's award winning prairie exploration for FWISD 4th graders. Your donation is tax-deductible.

Program Description

Prairie Keeper students explore the prairie ecosystem as they learn to model biogeochemical cycles, investigate Texas geology and take a personal responsibility for preserving local habitats.
