Help Habitat for Humanity keep safely in their homes! As we know during the pandemic having a safe, affordable home is more important now than ever.
REQUIRED: Face masks or face shields at all times while working on our construction and repair sites
Rock the Block and help revitalize neighborhoods with Greater Des Moines Habitat for Humanity!
Rock the Block is a focused housing outreach approach that assists:
- low-income residents with needed repair
- weatherization,
- safety,
- accessibility and beautification of homes in the neighborhoods that we build.
We have ongoing Rock the Block projects throughout the year, and 3 large events (April, July and October).

Description
Greater Des Moines Habitat For Humanity is a locally operated affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, a nonprofit, ecumenical, Christian housing organization. Habitat for Humanity works in partnership with people in need to build decent, affordable housing. The houses then are sold with no interest to those in need for the cost of the land and non donated materials at no profit.
Volunteers are the heart and soul of Habitat for Humanity. We welcome people from all walks of life to join us as we work to build affordable homes and hope in partnership with God and families in need.
There are many ways to become involved in Habitat's work. Volunteers can help in one or more of the following areas:
Construction & Rock the Block
ReStore
Office and Administrative
Committees
Facility Maintenance
Family Services
History: Greater Des Moines Habitat for Humanity has been serving the Greater Des Moines community since 1986. To date, the organization has helped move more than 150 adults and 350 children into the safety and stability of homeownership.
