Volunteer Positions

(Pro-Active Duties = on-going tasks)

GREETER -- Responsible for welcoming Visitors:

Tasks

  • Informs visitors about what the Center has to offer (Classes & Upcoming Events)
  • Explains to visitors the Center’s History and Mission
  • Makes sure visitors sign the Mailing List (Newsletters for Events, Volunteer Opportunities)
  • If visitors come in for Makeda (Executive Director):
    • Take Name, Number and Message on Makeda’s Sign In Sheet.
  • Ensure that Flyers and Pamphlets are well-stocked - Replace when needed

Pro-Active Duties

  • Walking around and finding people to sign the Mailing List
  • Recruiting new Volunteers
  • Promoting and explaining upcoming events
    • Constantly distributing Flyers
  • Informing people of Performance Schedule
  • Hands out business cards for specific staff members
    • Media: Jesse
    • Director: Makeda

RUNNERS -- Responsible for the delivering of Supplies:

Tasks

  • Moves and sends supplies to the appropriate areas
  • Keeps Inventory of food, drinks, promotional material
  • Checks to make sure everything is well-stocked
  • Maintains fully-stocked bathrooms
  • Re-stocks trash bags

Pro-Active Duties

  • Be aware of the needs of your assigned areas at all times
  • Distribute promotional material / Flyers
  • Informing people of all MLK Day activities
    • Set times, food services, vendors, etc.
  • Going out into the park and informing/gathering/sending people to the event

CONCESSIONAIRE -- Responsible for providing high-quality vegetarian food:

Tasks

  • Sets-up concessions
  • Serves guests with a smile
  • Re-stocks appropriate food and drinks
  • Puts away concessions
  • Keeps area clean
  • Maintains Hygienic environment
    • Gloves, Hair wrap, etc

Pro-Active Duties

  • Maintains positive attitude; Courteous and polite to customers
  • Promotes food to encourage sales
    • Explains that its organic, vegetarian, delicious
  • Has interest in Healthy Life-Style

PREP COOK -- Responsible for having food and kitchen prepared for cooking:

  • Cutting, chopping, etc of fresh produce
  • Maintaining upkeep of kitchen
  • Maintains Hygienic environment
    • Gloves, Hair wrap, Clean surfaces

Photography/Video --Responsible for capturing the vibe/ambiance of the event--

  • Indoor and Outdoor stages
  • People, activities, etc
  • Has awareness of surroundings
  • Informed of all set times and performance schedules
  • Treats event, atmosphere, and people as a constantly unfolding "Kodak moment"
  • Captures interactions and interviews with people

SET-UP -- Responsible for setting-up atmosphere indoor and outdoor to prepare for event:

  • Sweeping, mopping, dust
  • Tables, chairs, booths
  • Trash Cans, Recycle Bins
  • All stations

UPKEEP -- Responsible for maintaining a clean and pleasant environment

  • This is an intensely Pro-Active Duty
    • Constant checking, maintaining, tidying
  • Upkeep is what everyone does

CLEAN-UP - Responsible for restoring all areas to clean and pleasant condition

  • Trash, Recycling, etc
  • Chairs, tables, stations, etc

2 Shifts

All shifts have expired
  • Mon Jan 16, 2023 - 02:30 PM to 07:30 PM
    Second shift will help during shift and for breakdown. This shift will require quick learning.
  • Mon Jan 16, 2023 - 10:00 AM to 03:00 PM
    First shift will help with set-up and during event.

We provide on-going programs and services that nurture the spirit of children, the elderly and everyone in between. Our main goal is to create unity within diversity.
