Community Tax Aid, Inc. (CTA), an all-volunteer organization that provides free tax service to low income taxpayers in New York City is now recruiting volunteers. CTA needs volunteers to help with PR to expand our client base and volunteer group (Sept. - Jan.) and Feb.- Apr. to assist taxpayers who rely on us for help with individual tax returns. We train all volunteers to be aware of the many special tax problems unique to low income individuals. What will volunteers do? Develop PR materials and/or complete income tax returns -- Federal, State and City -- free of charge for low income taxpayers. When are the volunteers needed? PR: One meeting a month Sept. - Jan. and some home time to develop materials. Tax Prep: From mid-February through mid-April, about 2 to 3 hours a week in the evenings or on Saturdays or on Sundays at our Fountain House location in mid-Manhattan. Where are the volunteers needed? Volunteers can work at any of our 11 locations in the Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, and Queens.
