About

Community Tax Aid, Inc. (CTA), an all-volunteer organization that provides free tax service to low income taxpayers in New York City is now recruiting volunteers for year 2006-7 - our 40th season. CTA needs volunteers to help with PR to expand our client base and volunteer group (Sept. - Jan.) and Feb.- Apr. to assist taxpayers who rely on us for help with individual tax returns. We train all volunteers to be aware of the many special tax problems unique to low income individuals. What will volunteers do? Develop PR materials and/or complete income tax returns -- Federal, State and City -- free of charge for low income taxpayers. Income limits for the tax year of 2005were $25,000 for an individual and $35,000 for a family. When are the volunteers needed? PR: One meeting a month Sept. - Jan. and some home time to develop materials. Tax Prep: From mid-February through mid-April, about 2 to 3 hours a week in the evenings or on Saturdays or on Sundays at our Fountain House location in mid-Manhattan. Where are the volunteers needed? Volunteers can work at any of our 11 locations in the Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, and Queens. For additional information visit our web site at http://communities.msn.com/ctanyc or leave a message on our answering machine at 1-212-613-3101. To volunteer, please send an e-mail to ctanyc@myrealbox.com

Do you have a laptop computer or printer that both needs a new home and works? If you would like to donate it to CTA please send a note to CTAJudyRussell@aol.com Thanks.
