Early Alert Canines (EAC) is looking to expand its Board of Directors. EAC is a nonprofit organization that trains and provides medical alert assistance dogs to insulin-dependent diabetics. Our dogs are trained to alert to low glucose (hypoglycemia) levels, typically before a a test will show glucose levels are dropping. Hypoglycemia is an inevitable and acute side effect of insulin therapy and can quickly lead to severe medical emergencies including coma and even death. EAC recognizes how imperative it is for diabetics to receive the earliest warning possible when their blood glucose is dropping.
Our ideal candidate possesses strong leadership skills and a business background. We need board members that are passionate about our work, willing to raise funds and willing to speak on behalf of our organization in front of large audiences. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a little extra time on his/her hands who wants to make a difference and feels the need to give back.

Mission Statement
The mission of Early Alert Canines (EAC) is to improve the health, safety, and well-being of people with insulin-dependent diabetes through partnerships with certified low blood sugar alert dogs.
Description
EAC trains and provides Medical Alert Service Dogs to people who experience life-threatening blood sugar swings due to insulin-dependent diabetes. We have built our organization from a diverse community of clients, staff, volunteers, partners, and donors, representing different races, religions, ethnicities, ages, and gender identities. All EAC clients share the challenge of managing a life-threatening disease, and it's our privilege to provide them with individualized support to improve their quality of life. We cultivate a non-judgmental and welcoming environment focused on helping each client feel supported and celebrated for what makes them unique. Early Alert Canines' diabetic alert dogs provide real and measurable help for diabetics. Hypoglycemia is an inevitable and acute side-effect of insulin therapy that can lead to severe medical problems including coma and death, so it is imperative for diabetics to receive the earliest warning possible when their blood glucose is dropping.
