Last year, more than 2,000 local families and individuals were able to access free tax assistance through VITA, the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program. The IRS provides free training and anyone can volunteer. If you are (or were) an accountant or other experienced business professional, studying business in college, have no tax experience, or have prepared tax returns for yourself or others, join the VITA team--become a volunteer income tax preparer or greeter.
