St. Francis Camp on the Lake takes pride in recruiting the highest quality of staff and volunteers. In order to provide the best camper care and quality programs, St. Francis Camp on the Lake searches out individuals with a unique blend of compassion, selflessness, flexibility, creativity and the desire to live and play together in dignity, respect and love. There are many opportunities available to work at St. Francis Camp on the Lake including Medical Staff, Counselors, Lifeguards, Program Staff, Cooks, and Culinary Aides. Although many of our staff are students in the education and human service fields, experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities is not required.

Our counseling staff is at the heart of St. Francis Camp on the Lake's summer camp programs. Although it is a lot of hard work to provide an enjoyable and memorable experience for the campers, staff are rewarded with life-long friendships, fond memories, and a one-of-a-kind summer experience. In order to ensure the team at St. Francis Camp on the Lake is providing the best programming, camper care, and camp experience, our staffand volunteers participate in a 30 hour pre-camp training session. Specialized training is provided in: CPR, First-Aid, waterfront and boating safety, camper care, communication skills with non-verbal campers, medical needs, adapting activities for various disabilities, and much, much more!

Description

St. Francis Camp on the Lake provides an environment where campers and staff live and play together in dignity, respect and love-creating lifelong memories and meaningful friendships. Our individualized summer camp and respite care programs truly empower the individual camper by recognizing their unique potential and promoting personal growth through our daily activities.

St. Francis Camp on the Lake understands the challenges many families face in finding quality programs that meet the specific needs of their loved ones. We pride ourselves in working with parents and caregivers to provide campers with quality care while creating a lifetime of memories in one endless summer.

"Grace thoroughly enjoyed her first time at St. Francis summer camp. She couldn't stop sharing about all her adventures with us. She enjoyed the boat ride, the wheelchair swing, the beach wheelchair, the food, the hospital bed, the dance, the camp atmosphere, craft time and even rest time. She especially enjoyed making new friends with the wonderful staff - and is still laughing about their skit.

You provided a win-win situation for our family. We were able to have a rare break from daily care while feeling confident that Grace was being well cared for by kind & competent people. From Grace and my family...thank you!!!!"
