Volunteers advocate for, and protect the rights of older adults to improve the quality of care and quality of life for persons receiving long-term care services. Volunteer Ombudsman visit residents and make an impact on their quality of care by educating them to their rights as consumers of long-term care services. Volunteer Ombudsman make an impact on the quality of the resident's life by visiting them and spending time meeting with them. Studies have shown that most residents of facilities receive no visitors on a regular basis. Training is provided.

The Lehigh County Office of Aging and Adult Services provides the following services: Information and Assistance, Links to Transportation, Assessment, Case Management, Personal Care Services through contracted home care agencies, Adult Day Care, Aging Waiver, Nursing Home Transition, Ombudsman Program, Family Caregiver Support Program, APPRISE Health Insurance Counseling, Protective Services, Neighborhood Senior Centers, Housing Assistance, Home Support, Home Modifications.
