Our hospice ministry continues to grow and we are looking for compassionate volunteers to join our team. The hospice team provides physical, emotional and spiritual care to patients in their own homes, skilled nursing centers and inpatient hospice settings. Volunteers are at the heart of hospice care, offering their time and talent to support the services provided by our professional care team. One of the greatest gifts we can offer our hospice residents is a volunteer.

Wherever you choose to volunteer at Otterbein Hospice, there's a place for you. Whether it’s working directly with residents and families or in another role, you can make a big difference in someone's life, including your own. Volunteers offer companionship through conversation, reading, music, and sharing common hobbies. Having a volunteer is often a blessing for families, too, as your presence can offer them some much-needed respite. We also have a need for volunteers to assist with clerical duties and other special projects that can be completed from home.

No experience or medical background is necessary. We provide ongoing training and support to our volunteers. Make a powerful impact on the lives of your neighbors in their time of greatest need.

For more information, contact Megan Pera, Otterbein Hospice Volunteer Coordinator, at (513) 696-8534 or HospiceVolunteerCoord@otterbein.org.

About Otterbein Hospice

Location:

554 N. State Route 741, Lebanon, OH 45036, US

Mission Statement

In keeping with our United Methodist tradition, we seek to enhance the quality of life and holistic growth of older persons.

Description

We have an emotional bond with our Otterbein residents. We’d like it to remain unbroken. That’s why we’ve developed a hospice care ministry. Should any of our Otterbein family decide not to pursue aggressive medical care at the end of life, we want to be their hospice caregivers. Sending them somewhere else at the most important spiritual phase of life doesn’t sit well with us. Their life is here. We want to be with them at the end of it.

We plan to be physically, emotionally and spiritually present to our elders and their loved ones. Our hospice nurses will be responsive, sharing care options, and ensuring comfort. Our social workers and chaplains will be there with loving guidance. And our elders will be at home, in every sense of the word.
