Filoli will hold its semi-annual New Volunteer Recruitment at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 11, 2014 at Filoli. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about the many, varied ways to volunteer at Filoli in areas such as House and Garden Self-Guided Docents, Member Services, Visitor Services, Public Relations, the Café and the Garden Shop. More than 1,300 volunteers presently help sustain Filoli, a non-profit organization and historic site of The National Trust for Historic Preservation. Some people enjoy volunteering with a friend or two, or meet new friends.
Fans of Downton Abbey will enjoy volunteering at Filoli. As a Filoli volunteer, one can spend a few hours every week or two in this Gentleman's 654-acre Estate and take a step back in time. Volunteers get behind-the-scenes looks at the elegant Georgian mansion and world-famous Garden and are also able to participate in Filoli’s special events if desired. Filoli is where parts of the TV series Dynasty were filmed plus more than a dozen movies, including "The Game", "Joy Luck Club" and "Heaven Can Wait".

Opened to the public in 1976 as a site of the National Trust for Historic Preservation, Filoli features a 54,000 sq. ft. home and a 16-acre English Renaissance Garden. In addition, Filoli's property includes a 6.8 acre Gentlemen’s Heritage Orchard and a trail system that transverses five different ecosystems for docent-guided nature hikes and visits to the Sally MacBride Nature Center.
