Use your sewing or quilting skills to make a legacy for hospice patients and a touchable memory their loved ones. Volunteers work with patients to select themes, designs and even may use the person's own clothing to craft a pillow, small quilt or other handcrafted item which the dying can give as a gift to his/her loved ones.
Volunteer typically will meet with patient and/or family members just once to get ideas for project and to make suggestions that will help guide the hospice patient in designing their legacy item. Once the item is finished, volunteer or hospice staff will deliver the finished item to the patient or their loved one.
Volunteers are needed in communities throughout northeast Ohio, including Cuyahoga, Ashtabula, Geauga, Lorain, Medina, Portage and Summit Counties. Some funds may be available to assist with materials needed for projects.
