Sewing Skills? Make Memory Bears for Loved Ones of Hospice Patients

Use your sewing skills to make a memory bear for a family who has lost a loved one. Memory bears are a touchable, huggable comfort to help someone feel close to a loved one who has died. Families provide items of clothing out of which our volunteer stitchers make bears. Stuffing for bears is provided by our hospice.
Patterns and samples are available if you would like to try your hand at making memory bears. Volunteers can expect to make 6-12 bears per year and have 4 weeks to complete a bear once materials are received.
Memory Bear Volunteers are needed in communities throughout northeast Ohio, including Cuyahoga, Ashtabula, Geauga, Lorain, Medina, Portage and Summit Counties.

Volunteers are an essential part of our hospice team, offering calm, friendly support to patients and families, and administrative support to our paid hospice staff.
