SCRAPS

Represent SCRAPS while participating in community events (for example, Petco Adoption Events, The Man Show, Liberty Lake Days, etc). This requires handling a dog(s) or cat(s) and giving out promotional material. You may also be asked questions about the organization. This is recommended for a "people person" or someone comfortable in interacting with all kinds of people. SCRAPS does important work in the community, we need help getting that word out.

About Spokane County Regional Animal Protection Service

Location:

6815 E. Trent Avenue, Spokane Valley, WA 99212, US

Mission Statement

Building a more humane community, protecting public safety and ensuring animal welfare through compassionate, responsive, professional enforcement of laws and public policy.

Description

The SCRAPS Hope Foundation is a 501c3 charitable organization that assists SCRAPS by providing programs and services geared toward increasing adoptions, keeping animals in their homes, and making medical treatment available. These critical programs such as outreach, animal behavior assessments, free dog training classes for the public, and transport of animals are funded by private donations.

SCRAPS provides the residents of the unincorporated areas of Spokane County, the Cities of Spokane, Spokane Valley, Liberty Lake, Millwood, Cheney, Fairfield and Dear Park, with animal control services including, but not limited to, responding to injured/sick dogs or cats, vicious animals, dog bites, and cruelty complaints. We also confine stray dogs. We respond to animal at large complaints and patrol neighborhoods for stray pets. SCRAPS has 11 animal protection officers. SCRAPS is funded by Spokane County and the cities we provide animal protection services to.

Our staff is limited and relies heavily on volunteers to provide the animals with enrichment activities that make their stay in the shelter more pleasant. Things like dog walking and cat socializing are extremely beneficial for the animals. Volunteers also help increase adoptions by working as Adoption Counselors and Outreach Assistants.
