Make a BIG Impact!

Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Tri-Cities (BBBSTC) has been transforming the lives of children since 1985. With our office located in Kingsport, we serve the following counties: Carter, Hawkins, Sullivan, Washington, TN and Washington, VA. Our vision is that all children achieve success in life. Our mission is to provide children facing adversity with strong and enduring, professionally supported one-to-one relationships that change their lives for the better, forever. At the core of One-to-One Mentoring is a long-term, trusting friendship with a caring adult who models and teaches skills, behaviors and perspectives. Changes in the child’s behavior, attitude and school performance emanate from the bond built between mentor (Big) and child (Little). High-quality mentoring relationships of one year or more have the potential to produce enduring developmental outcomes for disadvantaged youth.

Mission Statement

Our mission is to provide children facing adversity with strong and enduring, professionally supported one-to-one relationships that change their lives for the better, forever.

Description

Changing perspectives. Changing lives.

For more than 100 years, Big Brothers Big Sisters has operated under the belief that inherent in every child is the ability to succeed and thrive in life. As the nation’s largest donor and volunteer supported mentoring network, Big Brothers Big Sisters makes meaningful, monitored matches between adult volunteers ("Bigs") and children ("Littles"), ages 6 through 18, in communities across the country. We develop positive relationships that have a direct and lasting effect on the lives of young people.

The Big Brothers Big Sisters Mission is to help children reach their potential through one-to-one relationships with mentors that have a measurable impact on youth.

The Big Brothers Big Sisters Vision is successful mentoring relationships for all children who need and want them, contributing to brighter futures, better schools, and stronger communities for all.
