Compass Center for Women and Families

Hotline advocates assist survivors of domestic and interpersonal violence by responding to calls on our 24-hour hotline and meet with survivors in our office (with COVID-19 precautions) to provide crisis intervention, emotional support, court advocacy, and referrals to community resources. We need individuals who are available for daytime shifts, either from 9-1 pm or 1-5 pm, or overnight shifts from home on weekdays or weekends.

A 42-hour comprehensive training program is required for all Hotline Advocates. Training will cover topics including the dynamics of domestic abuse, domestic violence, and the law, active listening, safety planning, and community resources. Advocates are asked to make a 9-month or two-semester commitment to volunteering after training is complete. All training and volunteering will be virtual for an unforeseeable future due to COVID-19.

Virtual training will likely take place on weekday evenings from 5:30- 9:00.

The training begins on February 2, 2022.
