Feeding the hungry is a vital part of The Salvation Army’s work. At our Harbor Light Center, The Salvation Army’s homeless shelter in downtown Minneapolis, over 600 people are served breakfast, lunch and dinner everyday, year round. To accomplish this, volunteers assist not only with serving food, but also preparing meals, cleaning the kitchen and dining area, and sorting through food donations. Individuals or groups of up to 4 volunteers are welcome. You may volunteer one time or come on a regular basis. Volunteers must be 16 or older; if under the age of 18, must be accompanied by an adult chaperone.
Dates and Times: Sunday - Saturday, 7-9 a.m., 9-11 a.m. 11-2 p.m., and 3-5 p.m.
Number of Volunteers Needed: 4 volunteers each shift.
Duties: Volunteers will assist in all areas of the kitchen - preparing, sorting donated food, serving the meal, cleaning the kitchen and dining area.

Description
The Salvation Army offers social services and recreational programs with the goal of addressing specific physical, emotional, spiritual, and social needs of each family, individual, child/youth, or elderly person. Services provided include, but not limited to: emergency food shelves, school supply programs, rental/utility assistance, educational programs, outreach to the homeless, family and youth camping, community center programs, Christmas assistance programs, nursing home visitations, corrections programs, and disaster services.
