Rocky Mountain Hospice volunteer program currently needs volunteers to help in relieving in-home caregivers (wives, husbands, daughters, sons, grandchildren of patients, any primary caregiver) for 2-3 hours once per week. No prior medical experience is necessary as you will not need to provide any medical care whatsoever. You will be keeping an eye on the patient so that their family member can grocery shop or run errands knowing someone is with their loved one. We mostly need daytime volunteers who are available from about 10 AM - 4 PM in case patients' family members need help so they can go to daytime appointments. In case of an emergency, we have a 24 hour on call nurse that responds pretty quickly to emergencies. On your very first visit I (volunteer coordinator) will be with you the whole time. I will explain the whole process during your in-person volunteer training. Due to the nature of hospice, we ask that volunteers have not had any personal losses of close friends or family members within the last year.

This is an opportunity to make a small commitment (2-3 hrs/week) and have a HUGH impact on those you serve. Caregivers are often very grateful for your help.

Rocky Mountain Hospice provides 12 hours of initial training, continued ongoing training, in addition to a background check & fingerprinting. Volunteer applicants must have a clean criminal background check in order to volunteer.

Being a Rocky Mountain Hospice volunteer is a richly rewarding experience and I look forward to meeting with you to discuss how YOU can join our compassionate caregivers.

We do ask respite volunteers to commit to volunteering for a minimum of 3-12 hours a month for 6 months.
