Virginia's Hospice

  • A group opportunity. Invite your friends.
  • 13 people are interested

Throughout Harris, Montgomery and surrounding counties in Texas, Virginia's Hospice brings hope and strives to improve the quality of life for those dealing with terminal cancer, decline due to aging, dementia, and other quality of life limiting illnesses. Through hospice and volunteer intervention and care, we companion with those patients and families making this journey, so they do not have to walk it alone or with limited resources. The volunteer is asked to visit with assigned patients 1, 2 or 3 hours weekly. During the visitation, volunteers provide any one or a combination of skills, depending on the patient which may include verbal communication, reading, singing, discussion, praying, social interaction and human presence just to name a few. Many volunteers discover other activities and interactions as they get to know the patient with the approval of the staff, caregiver and/or family. This opportunity can unleash the "servant's heart" within you, as well as your creativity. Join us and hear the words of Jesus when He said, "...when you did these things for the least of My brother/sisters, you did them TO ME".
