Tahoe Youth & Family Services has been serving our community since 1971.

Research confirms that quality mentoring relationships have powerful positive effects on young people in a variety of personal, academic and professional situations. BE THE CHANGE that you want to see in this world. Mentor a young person today!
Our community-based mentoring program needs YOU! We will match you one-to-one with a Douglas County youth, aged 4-17. At no cost to the mentor or mentee, we provide the background check, training, support, and opportunities for fun group activities. A mentor will agree to a one year commitment to spend at least four hours each month with their mentee and to turn in a "mentor log" each month. If you are between 18 and 118, you can share your wisdom, hobbies and talents while building up and exploring the interests of a local young person!!!
Applications can be found on our website, www.tahoeyouth.org, or can be picked up at our Gardnerville office. For more information, please refer to our website - or contact Dorrie at 775-782-4202 ext 104 or by email at dorrie@tahoeyouth.org.

Mission Statement

To promote the healthy development of children, families and individuals through counseling, mentoring and supportive services.

Description

We are a non-profit that has been helping our community since 1971 in South Lake Tahoe and 2005 in Gardnerville.
Our Douglas County Community-based Mentoring Program pairs youth with a caring mentor. Mentors will take their mentees to experience many new things and also old favorite activities. Tahoe Youth & Family Services offers monthly excursions to places like Kirkwood (skiing/boarding), the hot springs, roller skating, baseball games, museums, hikes, Lake Tahoe beaches and more!!
All activities are planned in the spirit of prevention. We want our community's youth to be shown clean recreational alternatives to the use of drugs and/or alcohol. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
