Evercare Hospice is currently seeking pet therapists to visit our patients on Hospice who live either in their own home, Board & Care, Assisted Living or Skilled Nursing Facility located throughout Orange County. Pet therapy visits can dramatically impact the lives of those on hospice by making the patient smile, laugh or even talk when we haven’t seen this type of behavior in weeks or months. There is an unspoken connection between the animal and the hospice patient which is amazing to experience. Our goal is to make a difference in the lives of our patients and their families and to treat each patient as we would our own family member. Pets must be certified as a pet therapy animal through the Delta Society, Therapy Dogs International, PAWS or organization of this caliber. Pets can be a dog, cat, mini horse, horse, Alpaca, small pig etc however pet therapists must provide proof that their animal has liability insurance and up to date vaccinations. All animals must be bathed & brushed prior to each visit. All human volunteers must attend one of our volunteer training sessions, submit to a 1 step TB test, drug screening, criminal background check and we offer the Hepatitis B vaccination which is optional. All provided at no charge to the volunteer. We look forward to hearing from you!
