Sometimes the cure for cancer is just 15 miles away.

Road to Recovery is a volunteer program sponsored by the American Cancer Society which provides transportation for cancer patients receiving chemotherapy or radiation treatments. We currently only have 4 volunteers who will drive patients of Cabarrus County to their treatments at local hospitals.

Today we have patients in need, patients needing treatment to save their lives. Treatment that is available, but they have no means of getting to their treatment center.

Road to Recovery is a proven solution. Volunteers in this program receive training and liability insurance coverage. The program is flexible, volunteers have the ability to transport patients at their convenience as the hospital is aware of the program and when possible, willing to work with volunteers’ schedules to set patient appointments. Patients receive a sense of reassurance as all volunteer drivers receive training and have completed a background check. Patients are also better able to maintain their fight, knowing they have a ride to treatment. Having cancer is hard, finding help shouldn’t be.

If you or someone you know would be willing to become a Road to Recovery driver, please call 704.553.5391, or visit www.volunteertodrive.org.
